“A Forgotten Hero”

This is a story of one of my favorite unknown heroes, Witold Pilecki.  An unfamiliar name to most, Witold Pilecki changed the world and saves the lives of millions through his bravery and sacrifice. During the Nazi Era, he volunteered to go undercover and gather intelligence of the death camp and report it back to the world.  He was given a fake Jewish identity and was thrown into the concentration camps where he was beaten, tortured, and deprived of food and water. He eventually escape after spending about 2 1/2 years and gave the Allies valuable information on what was happening in Germany. He was eventually caught and executed… A true hero he was.

The Story of Emmett Till

Emmett Till, a 14 year old African American boy was kidnapped, beaten, eye gouged out, then finally shot in the dead for supposedly flirting with a white woman. DA had plenty of evidence but were unable to convict the suspect of murder because of an all white jury. A week later they confessed of the murder for $4,000. EVIL!

Right after this photo was taken, the man was executed point blank. The man was a VC captain who was responsible for massacring a village of unarmed civilians earlier that day. Justified? You decide.

I came across this picture today, and it caught my eye. It is a picture of a child, whose body has been withered away due to the lack of nourishment.

925 million people are hungry.  16,000 children die from hunger-related causes everyday. It is a common scene here in Africa — Babies, teens, adults, and elders are simply starving to death Everyday, Every Hour, Every Minute. Growing up in a society where food is always present, we tend to take it for granted. I hope this picture will help change your perspective.
